{mosimage}A Vidyasagar - Dharani combination is always special with a proven track record in "Ethirum Puthirum, Dil, Dhool & Gilli". When they come together again, but this time in a new territory - Telugu, I had high expectations. Vidyasagar as usual didn't disappoint this time as they are unapologetic and unabashed about the fact that theirs is a mass product with commercial tunes unleashing tonnes of fun & zing. Out of five tracks easily the pick is "Egire Chirugamma.." rendered by Udit Narayan & Anuradha Sriram, which transports you to the black & white era with hero riding on the charats. The orchestration is modern retaining the nostalgic feel.
But my favourite that makes me dance is "Chidugudante Bhaiyam.." which solely rides on sheer energy of Anuradha Sriram. A best track for party circles & driving. "Ra Ra bangaram.." which might be the introduction song of Pawan Kalyan gives the feel of oft heard. "Jai Shambo.. Jai Shambo.." is an also ran number. I think the "Dhool" number - "Koduva meesa, Aruva paarvai.." hasn't left Vidyasagar's mind. "Maaro masti maaro..." is the photocopy of that number. On a whole "Bangaram" is an enjoyable album with no excuses like trying different. Anuradha Sriram is a revelation in this album and you are surely to enjoy.
{mosimage}Coming to Tamil albums, I simply loved Yuvan Shankar's "Pattiyal". This boy is slowly becoming a force to reckon with improving in every of his album. There are 5 + 1 (remix) songs of which my favourites order goes like this:- (i) Poga Poga boomi virigirathey... rendered by Haricharan, Vijay, "new sensation" Saindhavi & "Harini Vijayakumar" echoes in your ears even after you switch off the player. (ii) The romantic "Kannai vittu.." scores with a haunting humming & foot tapping orchestration. (iii) "Yedhedho ennangal.." somewhere replicates the feel of "Kannai vittu.." (iv) Namma Kattula... is a typical don number (v) "Dei namma..." is with the typical friendship number. On the whole Yuvan rocks in this album and I am sure this will haunt Andhra Pradesh (just like Yuvan's first Telugu movie "Happy") also when this movie is dubbed in Telugu in near future.
{mosimage}TK Rajeev Kumar's "Made in USA" is a relatively old malayalam-English bilingual starring Madhavan & Kaveri (Kalyani in Telugu), with tunes by Vidyasagar. After a long search I got it recently. This movie reiterates the fact that Vidyasagar is as good as his director. Beautiful "Poonellin Kadhirola..." rendered by Aparna Rajeev is better than Jayachandran version and is haunting taking you back to old memories. Vidya's favourite Sujatha takes over with "Thaazhunna suryanai..". Aparna Rajeev once again proves that she is no flash in pan with "Ilamaan azhage.." and it is also a nice number. Chitra's "Ambilimama.." is a pathos number with an ever expressive Chitra's voice. This is one of the nice works by Vidyasagar and if you have an ear for melody, then you can surely go for it.
{mosimage}I heard the S.Ve Sekar's drama "Halwa". Even though I have all of his dramas (30 till date) my personal favourites are very few - "Yaamirukka Bayamein?", "Adhirshtakkaran", "Thathu Pillai", "Eppavum Nee Raja" and the latest addition being "Halwa". It is a laugh riot with a detective agent Ganesh finding in an attempt to find the heiress, has a tough time in choosing the true one among the landed three. These dramas are really a stress reliever and I used to laugh out loud when hearing them. In this "Halwa" he had made a parody of "Kadhal Kottai". The speciality of "Halwa" is its mild innuendoes. If you give it a hearing, you'll surely love it.
