Click the image to read furtherEven though I feel that I am not a 'typical' gadget person, I find my life going digital in a major way. The latest addition in my daily 'digital' routine is Amazon Kindle - Ebook reader. Even though I heard a lot about e-book readers, I never took them seriously. I thought a laptop will take care of the e-book reading part. But during this London trip, my books alone contributed to 8 kg (exclusive of laptop) and I got pain while running between the terminals in the airport. While commuting in the London Tube trains, I noticed people using the Amazon Kindle, which kindled my intrest in the Amazon's hugely successful e-book reader. So I ordered a Kindle for myself via my sister and got it into my regular day routine.

Monitor Power OffThis small utility will be very useful for those having their laptops. A small issue with the laptops is that you can't control power for the monitor seprately. If you use your laptops for downloading large files, to listen music in background when you are engaged in some other work, then you might have felt the monitor unnecessarily taking the power. I tried to use a customised power plan to switch off the monitor but it switches on the monitor even on a slight tilt or accidental hit on the keyboard. Today I came across this small application which I found extremely useful, so I couldn't resist sharing this application with you all. You can download this very small (32 KB) utility from here. No need of installing. Just double click it, it is ON. You can add this to Windows start up menu by pressing the [+] button and remove it from auto start up by clicking the [-]. The best part is that immediately switches off the monitor while the ongoing activities keep continuing on the background and doesn't switch on again on the light / minor sensory movements in the mousepad. So I am sure that this tiny utility will be definitely useful for my laptop user friends.

Since I was not getting enough new templates & modules for my older but stable version of Joomla v1.0 CMS, I decided to go for an upgrade. For the beginners, Joomla is the most powerful CMS (COntent Management System) that is used to run various large & small websites and the best part is that it is a freeware. People like me who blog regularly can't use simple HTML to create websites considering the level of updating needed for every new post being added. That's where these Content Management System comes in. Prior to Joomla I was using PHPX, which was very simple and effective, but that developer team is no longer active. It had been more than 2 years Joomla v1.5.X had released and now many free webhosting companies are offering pre-installed Joomla websites. So considering the new modules / functionalities and the fear of getting behind / obselete, I went for the upgradation to latest version v1.5.15.

Rome was not built in a day, so was my old version website that took years to become stable. Atlast now I am updated with the latest version of Joomla (V 1.5.15) and it took a lot of effort and testing to get the site live. Even though I have rushed through to meet the deadline, I have some more work leftout. The Mamblog section contributed by Meera, that foddered the gossip centric minds had been left out because of the ASCI/Unicode issues. I have to manually copy the articles from the old site backup and recreate them, so give me sometime. Coming to the downloads section, I had indexed the Comedy Dramas and have to list the Philosophical discourses / rest of the articles. My due apologies to Vijay / Ananya / Annamalai as I couldn't fetch their RSS feeds because of a problem with Joomla Library component called 'Simplepie' that dumps too much of data in the database. I promise to enable fetching their feeds once I get the solution for the issue mentioned. Also there is no need to register just for downloading the dramas. I am yet to find the best working template as I am facing problems with articles that have "Read More" contents and I promise to make your stay at my website enjoyable. There are miles to go regarding this and meanwhile I'll write a post on the technicalities involved with the upgradation process. Post your comments and suggestions to make this site better. - {oshits} readers!!!

Hai Guys, It has been a while since I had blogged and every friend of mine thinks that it is Aadhi (his spelling is decided by my father as 'AADHITHYA' as per numerological reasons) is the reason for the break. I wish it would be a lovely reason but actually the website migration Joomla 1.0 to Jooma 1.5.15 is taking a lot of time. Against my expectation, the migration of blog contents (sections, categories, articles) was a breeze but finding the equivalents for the modules and moving the data is tedious. Since I have decided to go for new equivalent modules for Downloads and much loved & read Mambogs, they are taking a hell lot of time in getting accustomed to the module and then doing the configurations. I have this weekend as target for going live with Joomla 1.5.15 and working towards that. You people take a look at the beta version of the site , let me know your comments and suggestions. If you get a 'Fatal Error' message, just refresh your browser ('F5' button) and the page will load again. I am looking for its solution, till then please bear with me. - {oshits}

I always believe that we everybody have something intresting to share with and some of us are gifted with the ability to tell it in an intresting manner, so I ask some of my close friends to start blogging. Anybody who looks life & things in a keen / detailed perspective, can become a good blogger and I always cajole those friends to come out and blog. And to much of my hapiness I have few people whom I can say that I was somehow instrumental in making them write down their thoughts. Once they start and when things go well, then their blogs take their own course. When I used to say Vijay that he can blog, he used to scream "Me & Blogging?", now he is maintaining his recipe blogs, ofcourse in the field of his interest. Another person whom I wish should have started much earlier was Ananya. Her emails are a delight to read and she reads so much of blogs that it reflects in her words. I always used to say that she can be a good blogger because of her interesting perspective towards life. It is better late than never and akka started her blogging journey today - Ananya Thinks. Bala Ramanan, my brother-in-law also started blogging when I used to say that his choice of words are amazing. I don't know whether I had any part in his occassional blogging but "Annamalai" was generous in giving me credit by mailing that when I commented on his post on "Chitthirappavai", he got inspired that somebody is reading his posts also, that he started blogging seriously after that incident. I just hope that these people should continue their blogging for years to come. There are few more friends of mine - well read and with beautiful outlook towards life, so I hope to see them on the blogsphere soon. But I have a regret that I couldn't get (Late) Vaithy into blogging because he could have chewed many of the current bloggers if he was into serious blogging. If any of you are new to blogging and wish to share your articles, I encourage you to post in my site, ofcourse with all the credits given to you only.-{oshits} readers

Hai Guys, I happened to come across this piece of personality test software (2 MB stand alone exe file) while searching some Personality Development materials for Ananya. I took this test for a lark but was surprised at its accuracy. It has just two set of screens where you have to choose the colours in the order of your preference. The second screen repeats itself and you have to be true while taking that screen. And the small report it gives out was quite accurate. I tried to fool the software by inconsistent selections and the results were drastically different from the test I took sincerely. So just thought of sharing with you all through my blog. Enjoy!!! Click here to download the file ~ //End// ~ {oshits} readers for this piece of intresting post.

Recently when I wanted to upload the home video of a family function, I had a problem in uploading the same in the web for my friends abroad. My old favourite video host "Google Videos" doesn't accept new videos anymore after it took over YouTube. The very famous 'YouTube' is limitting the length of the videos to maximum of 10 minutes. So splitting the video to 10 minute clips doesn't seem intresting because over the period of time, the viewers might lose intrest. So I searched for some more video hosts, who can meet my criteria - support longer videos, larger file sizes and option of downloading the videos for offline viewing. Finally I zeroed on (i) Yahoo Videos, (ii) Vimeo (iii) Veoh. Among these I am pretty impressed on Vimeo and Veoh and this blog is about Veoh majorly.

A Sorry to all those who downloaded the vEmotion crack from my previous post as that cracked file was an older version of trial software with a recording capability of only 5 minutes. On the comment of Ananya, I tried to record through Audacity, but the voice from the other side of the speaker were hardly audible. So I had no other option than resuming the search for the suitable cracked software again. Atlast from the vast rapidshare library, I stumbled upon on another software called MX Skype Recorder. I initially came across this software but I thought it was for Skype only, so I didn't try. But it is capable of recording the conversations through any VOIP client. This link which I am posting is working fine and I made it sure 100% working before pasting the same only after confirming.

Hai Guys, my search for "logging" the voice chats was not over then but while searcging for the same I came across this intresting piece of news about Gtalk. So thought of sharing with you all.

Google Talk is one of my favourite online messengers. But like other web messengers  it does not allow to use more than one user ID and chat using both user IDs at the same time. You have to use one Gtalk user ID at a time, sign out and then login with another user ID. Since I have two Gtalk user names, I was always looking to get logged in with my two user names at the same time. And finally I found a trick to use multiple Gtalk IDs at the same time. You can open two Gtalk messengers, login with two different IDs and talk at the same time from a single computer. (Courtesy: SolidBlogger)

I love reading the chat transcripts of some of my close friends, reliving the sweet moments again. However when I opt for the voice chat, there is no 'record' or facility to relive those moments. When I googled for that I stumbled upon this piece of software with crack. We can 'record' the gtalk voice chats using the vEmotion. The trial version of this vEmotion limits the recording to 3 minutes only. So I searched the net for alternate options and there are many but all were costing above $30. The intense search for an alternate freeware or a crack resulted in downloading the full version of vEmotion along with the crack itself.... Voila!!! I can now record the sweet conversations of gtalk and preserve them... You also can do the same by following this tutorial.

{mosimage}For those who had used E-Kalappai and Professional version of 'Azhagi', this tutorial will offer nothing new. But for those who love to write in Tamil on the net, chat applications and even in MS Office applications like MS Word, PowerPoint etc.. etc.. whatevere application that can take up texts, this tutorial will be very useful. Infact one such instance, when I discovered 'Azhagi', change my course in blogging. I started writing a lot in Tamil, which happens to be my mother tongue, favourite language and above all my best medium of expression. I am a small town brought up for whom English is just another language, not something I breath, dream and talk in. So whenever I translated my thoughts in English whatever I felt, I always found that something is missing. Thats why 'Azhagi' means a lot to me. With this NHM, my horizons on internet just expands to chat applications and other message boards. If I forget English in an year, that won't be a surprise for me.
